UCF Missional Communities
What is a missional community?
A Missional Community is pretty much just what it sounds like – a group of people who get together and share a common mission. These are communities that exist within the larger context of UCF. They are called "communities" because they are all about people committing themselves to live out the Jesus-life with each other. They are called "missional" because they are intentional about expanding God's enterprise in the world around us from right next door to around the world.
Many of these missional communities are created around the stage of life you are in, however we don’t see these as typical "ministries". Ministries seem to focus inward on meeting the needs of a particular age group by focusing on the needs present in the group. Missional Communities look outward, believing that everyone was created to make a difference and as we combine with others the difference that we can make is multiplied. Many of these communities function like micro-churches with their own gatherings and missions... and they all have one thing in common – all of the people both give to and benefit from the community.
Some of these missional communities begin with a community of people who enjoy being around each other and doing life together, and then move towards seeking and engaging a mission. This may be one thing or several things but it involves everyone working together to engage the misssion.
At other times these missional communities will form around a mission first. It might be a single mission trip or a life-long endeavor that brings this community together. But to accomplish this mission God's way requires this group to become a community - loving, serving, caring and celebrating each other - as they go out to 'be Jesus" in a particular way.
Missional Communities form the cellular makeup of the "organism" called UC Fellowship, giving it life, energy, cohesiveness, and purpose.
